Difference Day programma voor studenten, Ravenstein - Hoofdinhoud
Each year, since 1993, World Press Freedom Day is celebrated on May 3rd.The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the importance of this fundamental right and to remind governments of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression.
Media freedom and pluralism are not simply “nice things to have". They are cornerstones of our democracies, enshrined in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. As President Juncker said in his latest State of the Union address: “Europe must always be a place where freedom of the press is sacrosanct. Too many of our journalists are intimidated, attacked, or even murdered. We must do more to protect our democracy and its agents - our journalists”.
“Difference Day” will pay homage to the persons and organizations dedicated to the protection and promotion of these values.
The European Commission is a co-organisator and proud partner of the Difference Day event taking place at the BOZAR, in Brussels.
The programme of the event, as well as the registration link are available on the event website.
