On Saturday 4 May 2019, the European institutions open their doors to celebrate the Europe Day. On this occasion, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) - the European Union's Assembly of regional and local representatives - will celebrate Europe's diversity with a festival of regions and cities.

The overarching theme this year is "The European elections", which will take place a few weeks after the Open Day (23-26 May). In this context, the Open Day activities taking place in the CoR will focus on the added value of the EU in regions and cities, and the related importance of voting to shape EU's future.

In 2019, the CoR celebrates its 25th anniversary (1994-2019), which will also be highlighted during the Open Day.

EU regions and cities will be at the core of this 2019 edition with numerous stands offering innovative activities to interact with visitors and present the variety of EU-funded projects in regions and cities, thus showcasing the benefits brought by the EU at local/regional level. Participants will also be able to visit the CoR information stand, as well as stands from its political groups.

VisitBrussels, the communications agency for tourism in the Brussels-Capital Region, is organising a bus which will circulate between the participating European institutions and help the public circulate in the Brussels' European quarter.
