ECIPE conference: Europe in the ‘Age of Asia’ Visions, Divisions, and Strategies for Global Political Cooperation
June 4, 09:30-12:30
Residence Palace, International Press Centre
How can Asia and Europe form closer political cooperation?
Emerging Asia increasingly defines the scope and character of international cooperation. For matters of peace, security, migration, a hospitable environment and continued economic globalisation rising Asian powers are crucial for shaping international responses. But how do these nations view the world and their relation to Europe? What issues have given Asia-Europe relations a genuine purpose and direction? On what issues are there political divergence rather than convergence?
In a new book, Europe in Emerging Asia, a dozen scholars take stock of Asia-Europe relations and debate what visions and divisions that define their bilateral relations. This conference, featuring a presentation of the book, will discuss some of the core themes in the book with key experts and policymakers in Europe.
