Blog: Commissioner's visit to Italy

Commissioner Bieńkowska made her first official visit to Italy on 18 December.

She met Stefania Giannini, Minister for Education, Universities and Research, where she discussed space policy,Giuliano Poletti, Minister of Labour, where the focus was on internal market reform and the need to strengthen key skills, and Frederica Guidi, Minister for Economic Development, for discussions on the investment plan proposed by President Juncker.

As well as congratulating Italy on its successful EU Presidency during a period of transition, Commissioner Bieńkowska congratulated her hosts on their achievements in putting competitiveness at the heart of the EU agenda.

She also met representatives of Italian Industry and found time in a busy schedule both to help launch the annual campaign on toy safety and to speak to Italy's RAI 2.
