The topic of the EBS 2013 is: "Unlocking Industrial Opportunities - An EU Strategy for Competitveness". This deals with the challenge of the re-industrialisation of Europe - including services - and the promotion of innovation in Europe.
The conference is:
focussed on participants gaining a bottom-up perspective about what companies want from EU policy makers and on encouraging business leaders to engage more with EU policy makers.
European in terms of business speakers and participation in order to develop a real pan-EU business dialogue.
dynamic in the issues it tackles and its associated studies/surveys- ensuring the best possible outcomes for business participants and policy makers.
Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, László Andor, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, Antonio Tajani, Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship, Connie Hedegaard, Commissioner for Climate Action, and Karel De Gucht, Commissioner for Trade, will attend the summit.

Dit verbond van het Europese bedrijfsleven vertegenwoordigt meer dan twintig miljoen bedrijven, van klein tot zeer groot. De leden van BusinessEuropeE zijn 40 ondernemingsorganisaties uit 35 landen, die samenwerken om economische groei en een toename van het concurrentievermogen in Europa tot stand te brengen. Namens Nederland is VNO-NCW i lid. De naam BusinessEuropeE is sinds 2007 in gebruik. Voorheen heette de organisatie Union des Industries de la Communauté européenne (UNICE).
De missie van de organisatie is om de belangen en rol van ondernemingen in Europa actief te bevorderen door te ijveren voor een concurrerende zakelijke omgeving. Daarom wil BusinessEuropeE een erkende partner in de Europese sociale dialoog zijn.
