The OSCE Mission to Serbia is supporting the second SHARE conference on new media, personal data protection and censorship on the Internet. The Mission will organize a press conference in the Media Center on Friday, 27 April, and support a lecture by Katitza Rodriguez from Electronic Frontier Foundation, in Dom Omladine, 28 April at 13.30 hrs and a networking event for new media experts and SHARE organizers on 27 April.
Participants will include over two thousand young journalists, bloggers and other social media activists from Serbia and abroad.
Lectures will be given by leading international experts in new media and social media activism, looking at new approaches in using technology.
The Mission’s efforts are aimed at strengthening co-operation between international and local youth interested in new media issues, and the promotion of new media among the wider public in Serbia.
De Organisatie voor Veiligheid en Samenwerking in Europa (OVSE; in het Engels OSCE) is een intergouvernementele organisatie van circa 55 landen in Europa, Centraal-Azië en Noord-Amerika, die zich sinds 1973 bezighoudt met samenwerking op het gebied van militair, economisch en humanitair beleid.
De OVSE probeert vooral preventieve diplomatie te gebruiken om conflicten te voorkomen of te beperken. Na een conflict biedt de organisatie bijstand bij de (weder)opbouw van democratie en rechtsorde. Voor het beheersen en oplossen van conflicten vestigt de OVSE kantoren in de betreffende gebieden.
