The government of the Republic of Estonia and Eesti Pank, in collaboration with the European Commission and the European Central Bank, will host the "Euro Conference Tallinn 2010" to mark the fact that Estonia will join the Euro area on 01 January 2011.

An opening speech will be made by Andrus Ansip, Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, and key-note speakers will be Jean-Claude Trichet, President of the European Central Bank and Olli Rehn, European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs.

The conference will be chaired by Märten Ross, Deputy Governor of Eesti Pank, and Peter Mooslechner, Director of the Economic Analysis and Research Department at the Oesterreichische Nationalbank. A discussion panel will debate the topic, 'The enlargement of the euro area 2011: trust in the future'.

The event will be closed with an official reception in the Estonia Concert Hall, from 18.25 to 20.00. For more information, see 'Event Details and Programme' in Related Links.

Europese Centrale Bank (ECB)

De Europese Centrale Bank (ECB) is verantwoordelijk voor het monetaire beleid van de Unie. De basisdoelstelling van de ECB is het handhaven van de prijsstabiliteit binnen de eurozone i en daarmee het bewaken van de koopkracht en het beheersen van de inflatie.

Sinds september 2014 speelt de ECB ook een rol in het toezicht op een deel van de Europese banken.
