Humanity in Action organizes annual educational summer programs on diversity, minority rights and human rights for students from Europe and the United States. This year HIA will celebrate it's 10th anniversary with a conference on the question that lies at the very heart of its existence: "How do we keep the memory of the Holocaust and World War 2 alive in a way that is useful for future generations."

In 2010, it will have been 65 years ago that Europe was liberated. With this interactive, international discussion night in Felix Meritis, HIA The Netherlands wants to kickstart debates on what we should continue to celebrate and actively remember. What will happen after the liberation ‘retires'? This question is becoming increasingly relevant as the number of eyewitnesses that can share their experiences is shrinking.

Prominent guests such as Raoul Heertje, Ed van Thijn, Boris Dittrich and Piotr Cywinski (director Auschwitz museum) will discuss how to link the past to the present. The public will also be entertained by a spoken word artist and a musical performance.
