During the Croatian Presidency, one of the priorities in the field of sport will be dedicated to sport qualifications and competences for coaches. Council Conclusions will be prepared on this topic and the Presidency will organize an expert seminar, where some specific subtopics will be discussed.
The International Sport Seminar “Why Does European Sport Need Skilled and Competent Coaches?” will focus on opportunities for the education and lifelong learning of coaches, which will help them cope with various social challenges. The event will also focus on fostering the recognition of coaching as a profession, bringing together ministries, representatives of international sports organizations, representatives of non-governmental organizations, experts and key stakeholders in the field of sport.
The seminar will be divided into four sessions, during which various panel discussions and interviews with famous active or former athletes will take place.

Van 1 januari tot en met 30 juni 2020 vervulde Kroatië het voorzitterschap i van de Raad van de Europese Unie. Kroatië volgde hiermee Finland i op. Kroatië is voor het eerst voorzitter van de Raad: het land trad in 2013 toe tot de EU en draait sindsdien mee in het roulerend systeem van voorzitterschappen.
