As a key event of the 2019 EUSDR Presidency, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the European Commission and the Danube Transnational Program (DTP) organize the 8th Annual Forum of the EUSDR, between the 27th and the 28th of June 2019, in Bucharest, at the Palace of the Parliament. The event will take place under the motto: “Building cohesion for a shared prosperity in the Danube Region”.

The Forum will cover topics of particular importance for the Danube region - such as connectivity, regional mobility, research and innovation, digitalization and tourism, the fostering of clusters’ development, entrepreneurial policies. A special emphasis will be placed on creating better synergies between the EU macro-regional strategies and EU programs and policies in the revised framework of the EU Cohesion Policy. Discussions on new opportunities for enhancing funding for EU’s macro-regional strategies will also feature prominently on the agenda.

For Romania, the event will be an opportunity to review its achievements as Presidency-in-office of the EUSDR and at the same time to more effectively promote the priorities it set regarding the relaunching of the Strategy at the beginning of its mandate. This will also be a great opportunity for the Romanian EUSDR Presidency to promote joint strategic projects with significant impact in the Danube region.

Participants include senior European officials, dignitaries from all EUSDR member states, representatives of the European institutions, respective EUSDR National Coordinators and Priority Areas Coordinators, representatives of central public authorities with responsibilities in the EUSDR implementation, representatives of the local public authorities, representatives of the academic and business environment and of the civil society, representatives of the Romanian Parliament and the Presidential Administration.

The Forum will be preceded by a Ministerial meeting in the morning of the 27th of June, allowing Ministers in charge of Economic Affairs from EUSDR participating countries to share their views and provide strategic guidance for enhancing competitiveness and economic convergence in the region.

The Ministry for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship of Romania will also organize, throughout the duration of this event, an exhibition dedicated to promoting best practices & success stories of transnational cooperation in the Danube Region.

At the same time, Business to Business (B2B) sessions will be organized for the first time within an Annual EUSDR Forum by the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and its regional partners, represented by the Romanian Association for Electronic and Software Industry (member of the EEN), with the support of the Romanian Ministry for Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship and the European Commission/ DG GROW.

The Public Hearings Workshop and the dedicated session on the revision of the EUSDR Action Plan will allow stakeholders to take stock of the ongoing progress of the Revision Process and at the same time to become involved more in shaping the Strategy’s future by sharing concrete proposals for the final stage of EUSDR’s Action Plan Revision. To this purpose, public consultations will be organized by the Danube Strategy Point with the support of the Romanian EUSDR Presidency.

Several other related side events will be organized by various partner institutions in the margins of the Forum (workshops, art exhibitions). For more details about the side events, please access this link.
