The National Palace of Culture will host a Plenary Meeting of the Senior Labour Inspectors’ Committee (SLIC) with a Thematic Day focused on “Fine-tuning Interventions through Better Targeting of Labour Inspection”.

The topic of the event is highly relevant, as in time of ever diminishing resources — in absolute value and in relation to the increasing amount of work — the wise selection of the objects of control is of rising importance. The Thematic Day complies with the principles for effective labour inspection as laid down in the European Parliament resolution of 14 January 2014 on effective labour inspections as a strategy to improve working conditions in Europe.

The main topic will be introduced through a presentation on a national survey that outlines the challenges and looks into the methods for fine-tuning the interventions of Bulgaria’s General Labour Inspectorate Executive Agency. The opening session will also feature a study of the European Commission on improving intervention of labour inspection in micro and small enterprises.

The Thematic Day will thoroughly describe the technology of the inspection work in its three main aspects: planning, performance and evaluation of the effect. The sharing of good practice and experience on this technology that is present in the practice of every Member State will bring added value and will contribute to more effective labour inspections in the EU.

SLIC assists the European Commission in monitoring and implementing the EU legislation on health and safety at work at national level. The Committee is comprised of representatives of the national labour inspectorates of each Member State.
