Aula of the Senate of the Italian Republic - Palazzo Madama

The Interparliamentary Conference on the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) starts at 10:30 A.M. on 6 November at the Aula of Palazzo Madama.

The conference aims at ensuring parliamentary control on the six-month Italian presidency of the Council of the European Parliament and is opened by the President over the Italian Senate, Pietro Grasso, and the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Laura Boldrini.

The meeting, which is the fifth meeting scheduled within the parliamentary dimension during the six-month Italian presidency of the Council of the European Parliament, is attended by the High Representative for EU foreign policy, Federica Mogherini, i the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paolo Gentiloni, the Italian Minister of Defence, Roberta Pinotti, the parliamentary delegations of EU member states and candidate countries, of the European Parliament and of European NATO member states.

The conference is divided into four sessions which take place on Thursday and Friday and is preceded, in the afternoon of Wednesday 5 November, by a meeting of the Parliaments of the countries of the south of the European Union and the candidate countries on the theme “Neighbourhood policy as a stabilising factor: the case of Libya”.
