On 4-6 September 2013, the Seimas will host the Inter-Parliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy, one of the key events in the framework of the parliamentary dimension of the Lithuanian Presidency i of the Council of the European Union.

Baroness Catherine Ashton i, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission; Mr Anders Fogh Rasmussen i, Secretary General of NATO; and other high level officials are expected to attend.

2.30 p.m. a press conference in the Press Conference Hall (Building 2 of the Seimas) with the participation of Mr Benediktas Juodka, Chair of the Seimas Committee on Foreign Affairs; Mr Artūras Paulauskas, Chair of the Seimas Committee on National Security and Defence; Mr Linas Linkevičius, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr Elmar Brok i, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament; and Mr Arnaud Danjean i, Chair of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament.

3.50-4.00 p.m. a press point with Baroness Ashton (near the Presidential Hall, Building 1 of the Seimas), followed by an In Camera Session where Baroness Ashton will speak on EU’s priorities and strategies in the context of the Common Foreign and Security Policy.

6 September 2013

8.50-9.00 a.m. a press point with Mr Rasmussen in the lobby of Building 1 of the Seimas, followed by his speech on the future of EU-NATO cooperation, delivered in the Hall of the Act of 11 March.

2.00 p.m. the final press conference in the Press Conference Hall (Building 2 of the Seimas)with the participation of Mr Juodka; Mr Paulauskas; Mr Brok; Mr Danjean; Mr Pat Breen, Chairof the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Irish Parliament; and Mr Ioannis Kefalogiannis, Member of the Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament.
