Directorate-General for Education and Culture (EAC)

This Directorate-General is responsible for the education and culture policy of the European Union. The DG is responsible for a series of programmes that contribute to the preservation of European values and prosperity and the participation of citizens in European integration.

The main tasks of this DG are:

  • building a Europe of knowledge (life long learning programmes, facilitating exchange programmes)
  • to preserve and develop cultural diversity in the EU in all in forms
  • to involve citizens in the proces of European integration in order to contribute to mutual understanding, trust and tolerance
